Classroom Reveal 2014-2015

I am SO excited to finally share my new classroom! I am still envisioning the perfect pinterest classroom where I have cute things hanging from the ceiling and puff balls in the corner of my bulletin board, but unfortunately the fire marshal has a different vision and I guess mine has to match his. Boo!!
This video cracks me up. Every time I asked if I could do something in my room and I was told it was against fire code I longily wished that our fire marshal was fire marshal Bill Burns. Hehe!

I have been working on it all summer trying to make it PERFECT. Although there is still a TON that I want to add- it will have to wait because we have learning to do now!

This is our birthday wall. Last year I HORRIBLE at remembering the students birthday. This year it is my mission to make their day extra special, without spending any money.
I found these wonderful happy birthday treat cards for free on TPT. I printed, laminated and cut them out, put them in a bucket and BAM I was done with the worry of not having birthday treats.

I did take out a few that I was not planning on using such as: free night of no homework and free day of no morning work. I felt like this might send the wrong message that those two assignments are not that important.

This is my student work wall. My handy dad found some pieces of scrap wood at his work for me to use. I used regular clothes pins, covered them in mod podge, and sprinkled fine silver glitter over them to make them stick out. They are mounted on a brick wall with mounting tape.

Here is my jobs and calendar wall, as well as my "important teacher paper wall".
I had an extremely hard time finding a black and white polka dot calendar this year, so I had to order this one off of amazon. It did not come with anything but the calendar. Thankfully, TPT pulled through and I was able to find a polka dot calendar freebie here
I have this by my phone to also give me a place to hang up the millions of flyers we get in our boxes for various things happening on campus throughout the year.

This is the back of my classroom and probably my favorite part of my classroom. Find out what these picture frames are all about in my blog post here

This is our self assessment and agenda side of the whiteboard. I found these awesome self assessment cards as a freebie here.  This year my goal is to work more on having students do more self assessment of their abilities. With a strong emphasis on setting, monitoring, and achieving goals I felt like this would be our staple item in our room. My favorite thing about these is not only are they free but they also come with a variety of kid friendly wording to fit your needs.

This is our math wall. Since I am an anchor chart freak all of my bulletin boards are pretty much empty until the school year gets going.

This is our grammar wall. I need to reprint a few of these and rehang as I noticed that some are capital and some are lowercase.
updated grammar wall freebie here

This is our meeting area. I planned it to focus mainly on our grammar wall as we are going to be placing a huge emphasis on grammar within our learning of other content areas this year.

This rug came from IKEA for $19.99. This was such a great purchase. Although it is not large enough for all the kids it is a decent size and I didn't break the bank on this one!

Writing wall and small group table. This wall was just TOO big to leave blank for meet the teacher. I found a free "Writer's Eye" packet that matched my classroom so that it what is up there now. Plus it is a great visual reminder of capitals and periods.

This a view our our classroom from the back of the room. I am loving the design so far and hope that it works out for the kids as well. This year they are much closer to the board and I have placed my working station at the back. We will see how it works out.

My rule wall was inspired by Kinder Craze it was too cute not to duplicate. My dad made me these awesome frames at his work.

I purchased the rules from Maria Manroe from Kinder Craze on TPT for only $2.50. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it in my classroom since the colors didn't exactly match my classroom. I am loving them now though because I feel like the really "pop" and if I want anything to stand out and catch their attention, it's our rules! :)

I still feel like the front of the room needs some love, I just don't know what exactly to do with it. I have put border around the whiteboard and taken it down about 4 times. If you have ideas, please share.
