Looping- Day 2

In my last post about looping I had mentioned how many questions my students asked after finding out I was moving to 3rd grade with them. One of their main questions was. "What will our class look like? Where will it be?"

Decorating the classroom is one of my favorite parts of summer. I always start thinking about my new theme in late April early May and start making some purchases to be ready by July!

This year I let the students be in charge of the decision for what our classroom would look like. (It was REALLY hard for me!).

Have you heard of Schoolgirl Style? If you have not- you must check it out. She has amazing classroom designs that are so stinkin cute!!!

I picked my top 5 choices from her store and showed the kids the pictures. Here were the choices:

1.

For this one- I told them before voting that while I will try my best to make it look as cute as this... The would not be getting that awesome white chair, nor would their desks all of a sudden turn into nice white desks with those cute white chairs. :)

2.

5.

So here is the story. I put these pictures up and then we had a vote. I told the students that they could vote for two of their favorite ones and I told them since I am buying all the stuff, I am voting too! :) In a horrible way, I was hoping that my vote would get some of them to jump on board with me! Well- let's just say I lost!

My personal top votes were the world traveler and the totally teamwork. I liked the idea that you could stay with a few colors but still incorporate an awesome theme. Plus, I was already planning out in my head all the fun connections I could make with the teamwork one.

My thinking with the world traveler was since my significant other is a pilot... maybe... just maybe.. I could FINALLY get him to help decorate my classroom. (I guess my students were looking out for him!)

But... it turns out they picked Polka Dot and Daisies. I am happy for their choice! It has been easy to find things that go with our theme and I have had a blast decorating!

The only problem that I ran into so far is a lot of the designs from Schoolgirl Style has things hanging from the ceiling. I honestly think that this adds the finishing touches. Our fire codes restrict this, so instead of hanging my table signs from the ceiling, I created ones that I can table on table buckets.

Are you doing a similar theme? Check our my table signs on TPT:

Let's chat: Have you decided on a theme for this year? Share your ideas!
